Muhr und Bender KG, or Mubea, was looking for a cleaning solution for an internal airlock between a production area and a logistics area. It was to prevent the dirt generated in production from being carried into the clean area. With ProfilGate®, the automotive supplier found the right product for cleaning tyres and rollers for its internal industrial trucks. The ProfilGate® cleaning field was installed at the end of 2018.
The ProfilGate® st65 model was chosen in a size of 3x5 segments. Hand trucks, pallet truck e-ants and small forklifts now use this clean-off zone. The industrial trucks have small wheels or castors, which makes them suitable for cleaning with the ProfilGate® st series. Their grates are designed for small walking surfaces and are therefore fine-meshed. The area, a main internal transport route, is heavily travelled. Around 180 crossings take place every day. This is why the larger of the two trough depths, 65 mm, was chosen, which is also reflected in the name ProfilGate® st65. The larger dirt collection reservoir will prove useful for the high frequency of use. When choosing the length, the team took three wheel wraps as the decisive metric.
The cleaning field is emptied regularly every fortnight. During these empties, Mubea weighed a month's worth of dirt to measure the effectiveness of the system. The result: 3.8 kilograms of unwanted dirt was found in the trays, an average of 0.8 kg to 1 kg per week. Extrapolated over a year, Muhr und Bender KG will have to remove around 45-50 kg less dirt from the logistics area thanks to the ProfilGate® system, as this ends up in the dirt collection trays. There it can simply be swept out or removed with a hoover.
